I always know from the first time I use a mascara whether it will hit the spot and when the latest release arrived from Nars, well let's just say I was left feeling a little under-whelmed.

Promising feathery lashes, Audacious (or A as we shall call her for the purpose of this post), fell short. The matte packaging is as sleek as ever in true Nars style. The wand is rubbery and flexible which is meant to leave you with fluttery, doll-eyed lashes. With short and longer bristles, the intention is that all lashes are covered in an intense black formulation.

The actual formula appears quite wet. I was hoping a quick slick of this would give me the lashes I want from a mascara. Instead all I ended up with were black marks on my eyelids. 'A' didn't lengthen nor separate (at first) and clumped my lashes together. It took 3 or 4 attempts to separate the lashes using a lash comb and wiping off any excess product left on the mascara wand.

From the picture below my lashes look half decent, however this wasn't without real effort. I literally just want to swipe and go in the morning. If you love Benefit's Rollerlash, then I would avoid this mascara. Both 'A' and RL are meant to hook all lashes creating thick, separated long lashes. Benefit's handy little wand really works and gives real oomph to lashes, 'A' just left me with spidery, clumpy lashes that took ages to make anything of.

Sorry Nars, 'A' just isn't for me.  There are plenty of great drugstore mascaras out there, which I think do a much better job.  Available from SpaceNK.

Have you tried Audacious? What do you think?
