Laura Mercier Silk Creme Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation

The first Laura Mercier product I ever used was the infamous Silk Creme Foundation.  I first picked this up way back in 2012 when I was in New York.  It took me a while to get the hang of it and how best to apply it to the skin.  I tried everything and in the end I found I was using way too much and the smaller the amount used the better. I found it gave really good coverage to the skin, evened out skin tone and concealed blemishes.  If you want to read the full review click here.

Just as I got the hang of Silk Creme I ran out of product. When I came round to repurchase it, it had been repackaged with a slightly different formula.  By now you will know that I am all about flawless skin.  After just about getting to grips with the original, curiosity got the better of me and I was intrigued to try the new version.  The formulation is very similar (from what I can remember), it gives the same amount of coverage as before and it's easy to blend on the skin.  I much prefer using a brush with this foundation, instead of a damp beauty blender or sponge. A great foundation brush seems to give great, flawless coverage. The colour match to the original is identical.

I like this foundation, however personally I do not think it's as good as the original. On first application skin looks flawless, however after a few hours, it completely separates and disappears over the t-zone area. By 3pm, there is no product left at all around the nose.  I am still working on it, using different primers and powders to reach a solution, however at the moment I don't like it as much as the original.

If anyone has tried this foundation, or found a way to make it last, I would love to know your secret...

Available in both Oil-Free and Moisturizing versions from Selfridges.
