Building a Capsule Summer Wardrobe

If you're anything like me and have an overflowing wardrobe with nothing to wear, then let's simplify things.

After scouring the internet, rifling through the clothes I already have and obsessing over Pinterest boards, I decided to put together my perfect smart/casual capsule wardrobe for the summer. Whether you are going on holiday this year, fancy a clear-out or need some inspiration here are my must haves to put together a fuss-free stylish wardrobe.

T-shirts are a must.  A black tee will go with anything. Invest in a quality one and it will last ages. Slogan t-shirts are not really my thing, however any Whistles inspired print gets the thumbs up and are perfect for those casual 'can't be bothered' days.

Breton stripes feature heavily in my wardrobe. Every time I'm in a clothes shop they seem to reel me in. Not sure if I am trying to channel my inner 'French Riviera' self, but they work for me. Stylish and never out of fashion.

Vests, camisoles and more vests. Black, grey, cream, khaki. Perfect with jeans, slouchy flowery shorts and gladiator sandals. A must have for any wardrobe. I highly recommend New Look, they seem to last ages, are good value for money and wash well.

A denim shirt and/or jacket are perfect for layering up.  Throw over a vest top or your Breton tee for a casual 'I haven't bothered' look.

For the bottoms I highly recommend a black maxi skirt. Worn with a basic vest or a more dressy top. Perfect for day and/or night. As well as a black maxi skirt, I would also invest in a black maxi dress. Perfect for walking around the city in the day or dressed up with snazzy accessories in the evening. To switch it up the stripes feature again. I love this dress, so sophisticated.

Accessories wise, plain tan gladiator shoes go with everything.   For a pop of colour these orange sandals from Jigsaw would add a little something to a plain pair of jeans.  Add a Whistles backpack, straw Fedora, Rayban's and a statement necklace and you'll be all set for summer.
