First Impressions: L'Oreal Infallible 24 Hour-Matte.

L'Oreals Infallible 24 Hour Matte Foundation has been all over blogger land. I've had this now in my stash for a few weeks and wanted to give it a proper road test before I reported back.

The first time I used this, I have to say I wasn't that impressed. It reminded me of Nars' new All Day Luminous Weightless foundation, I didn't get on with that either. The Infallible foundation went on well enough, the application itself was easy. However considering it's meant to last ages, by lunch time, it had separated and pretty much disappeared from the nose area. Not pretty I can tell you. This is exactly what happened with the Nars foundation. Click here for more info on the Nars version.

Anyway I decided to give it another shot today and found instead of using the normal brush to blend it into the skin, I opted for the trusty finger tips. It seemed to blend well with a brush or fingers.  Now I don't really understand but using my fingers and setting as normal with a little powder (Rimmel's Lasting Finish Powder) it lasted so much longer. 8 hours later it pretty much looked the same as when I first applied it. I used powder after applying with the brush as well.

The coverage is good, it remained looking fresh and even though it's a matte finish, it's not too heavy and not cakey on the skin either. The consistency is also fairly light.

If you want to try Nars' version, I really recommend giving this a shot first. So much cheaper and pretty much the same product.  If you don't get on with a brush, use your fingertips, it may just work.

For the record I tried a brush, fingers and a beauty blender with the more expensive counterpart and just couldn't get it to work.

Would I buy Infallible again? Probably not, there are far more drugstore foundations out there, which I personally think are much better and suit my dry skin type.
